about
"Frozen - the b-side to Empty Men - was at the time a big powerful song we'd drop in toward the end of a set. It was pretty messy (in a good way) with face paint dripping down my face and splashing around everywhere mixed with sweat.
"This was another song where I was looking at where I'd come from (classically schooled musician, playing in orchestras/swing bands and then going on to be in indie-rock bands of which one of those signed to a major metal record label - but then being screwed over before anything even happened for us), where I was at the time of writing the song (ie in LS with a completely new and exciting line-up, about to go on a European tour supporting the Chameleons), and where I wanted to go (ie to a successful and fun future with LS) - while overlaying it with a love story of sorts.
"Empty Men and Frozen didn't become part of the next LS album but they did help pave the way. toward the current journey.. and we (LS) are really excited about the next release and the future..." (Simon York, Jan 2024)
lyrics
Seems like it’s days since I held your face in my hands - at least I can get on with what’s seen as life…
A taste in my mouth, a blur in my head, remembering what you were like in bed.
Now, you’re frozen in time.
Washing the stains from my clothes - it happens every day.
But nothing can remove the frozen look on your face…
My memory falters as I look at my reflection - a blizzard or secrets fuelled by my affection, now you’re frozen.
You are frozen in time…
But no one knows.
Sliding into your new skin, I wonder what grows within.
There’s something dirty about you, everyone wants you - oh, it’s just like old times.
Seems so long ago from when you began - everything in your life so ‘spick and span’
Now, you’re frozen - you are chosen, you’re mine.
You’re mine…
